Google Chrome Ad Blocking Update

Advertserve Updates

In Case You Missed It

Several months ago we made an announcement that Google
has teamed up with the Coalition for Better Ads and
warned that non-compliant sites would face ad blocking in Chrome starting in early 2018.

New Information

Google has announced
that starting on February 15, in line with the Coalition’s guidelines, Chrome will remove all ads from sites that have a failing
status in the Ad Experience Report for more than 30 days.

What’s at Stake

The stakes couldn’t be higher here. Consider for a moment that Chrome currently has a dominating 55% browser market share across
all desktop and mobile platforms. If your site receives a failing status you stand to lose more than half of your ad impressions.
To put it bluntly, this isn’t something you can afford to ignore.

Steps to Take

There is still plenty of time to act, so you don’t need to panic but the sooner you know if you have compliance issues
the better!

  1. Read our original article on this matter, which
breaks down all of the new compliance rules and their impact.
  2. Register your site to get access to Google Webmaster Tools if
you have not done so already.
  3. Follow these instructions to
access and review the Ad Experiences Report for each of your sites.
  4. If you have compliance issues, again please refer to our original article
for guidance on how to resolve them.
